August Bake Sale

Books, DVDs, Clothing, Accessories, Avocadoes, Jewelry, Frames, Artwork, Shoes and by the way GREAT Baked Stuff brought in a grand total of $413 this event.  There were many tourists who visited with us and although they could not buy much still donated deeply from their pockets.  Thanks to them, too.

Another fun side story:  Michael Robinson, one of the residents at the Asilo, brought two items he made himself to sell.  I will be bringing the cash to him Monday for his efforts!

July Bake Sale

We sold cookies, bread, cakes, brownies and those scrumptious toasted coconut cookies PLUS a plethora of used clothing, T-shirts (new), movies (thanks Lois and Lyn), books and fresh basil plants (donated by Clay and Allene Blaker's garden).

Total amount raised $409 (the record was $499.50 on our first sale day).  Thanks to my sales team: Mike, Sue, Ellen, Yoli, Judy, Eileen, Mary Ann and Karan.  Also special thanks to Lili's who provided support via her table and that awesome herbed bread fresh from the oven.

June Bake Sale

Since May 27, 2008 through efforts of Geoffrey Tresador and his brainy friends, Dana LeTourneau's "Change for the Better," and today's 3rd monthly bake sale, we have raised $759.90!

I want to thank everyone today: Team Bocas Yacht Club (Sheryl, Judy, Marilyn, Eileen and Yolanda).. having your good will with me out in front of Lily's through rain & shine brought in $366.90 alone.  By the way, we have also been selling (along with those scrumptious baked goods) books and DVDs.  If you have some that you don't need anymore, pass 'em on.

May Bake Sale

Though Mother Nature gave us a show this morning (as did those two little Indian boys who played and danced for Adrienne and I in that downpour), we still sold $246.50 worth of stuff!  Again, most popular were those Cuban pastilitos and Denise's Abuelo bread -- desayuno of campiones... Mariners at Bocas Yacht Club?  You ROCK... your support over these past few months has been truly amazing.

Thank you very much for all you do -- and thanks to Giselle Socarraz of Bongo's and her team, who made everything so easy today.

Next month, back to Lili's June 7....

April Bake Sale

16 key lime pies, 4 cheese cakes and a big fat raisin cake...

A plethora of brownies -- including some with Kahlua that sold before everything else, Cuban empanadas -- darn they were good, oatmeal cookies, chocolate chip cookies, those fabulous peanut butter/almond/fudge thingies, banana bread by the ton ...

And the Asilo is $499.15 richer thanks to all of you!

Next Bocas Bake Sale is Saturday May 3 at BONGO'S restaurant.  Stay tuned for more detail on what we do with that dough (besides bake it) and how you can help keep us on a roll (oh no -- that was bad).

And you know what?  We can do this thing at the Asilo one step at a time together because everyone had a hand in this and that what makes it so special.
